Kalinga farmers gain water pumps

TABUK CITY, Kalinga—Farmer associations and organizations of the province have received water pumps and farm implements under the El Niňo Mitigation Program of the Department of Agriculture.

The implements are just in time for the next cropping season, newly appointed DA Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo said.

Assisted by Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan and corn coordinator Gerardo Banawa, Edillo handed over to corn farmers the water pumps procured as part of the farm assistance program from the national government.

Knowing the farmer’s dilemma due to the long water cut-off from climatic changes and ongoing rehabilitation of the Upper Chico River, Edillo said: “I hope these machineries will help you recover from your missed croppings.”

Municipal agriculturists and farmer leaders from the different municipalities shall assist the office of the Provincial Agriculturist in completing the distribution of the equipments and farm implements.
