This was after a dialogue on illegal gambling with Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office staff and PCSO Small Town Lottery authorized agents in the region, together with the police directors from the five provinces in the region on Thursday.
“‹The dialogue aimed to know the present state of STL operations and to solicit ideas, suggestions or proposals in coming up with a comprehensive approach on how to address illegal gambling issues and concerns in the region.
According to Aplasca, information the police gathered indicated the involvement of some local government officials and even barangay officials on the said illegal activity but they have yet to validate and determine the veracity of the information.
“‹Prior to the dialogue, five chiefs of police were relieved from their posts for failure to address the illegal number games in their respective areas.
“I am appealing for the support of the local chief executives on our anti-illegal drugs campaign so that we could address this properly,” Aplasca said.
