Nueva Vizcaya launches aid program for Marawi

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya”•The provincial government has launched an initiative to help displaced villagers of Marawi City and cope with the ongoing armed conflict there.

Maybelle Blossom Dumlao-Sevillena, provincial administrator, said the “1 Nueva Vizcaya Para sa Marawi” calls for donations from various sectors of the province.

“The displaced villagers are still in need of food and non-food assistance to help them withstand the armed clashes between the government and the Maute terror group,” she said.

“Operation Marawi” seeks to provide assistance to the city government of Marawi through a massive information campaign using traditional and social media to encourage various sectors in donating cash, food and non-food items, Dumlao-Sevillena added.

The initiative also involves the opening of a bank account for the donations to be kept by the provincial treasurer, creation of a team for Marawi, and mobilizing its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

The donation program for the Marawi villagers have been approved and endorsed by Gov. Carlos Padilla.

Dumlao-Sevillena said the needed items are clothing, footwear, hygiene kits, beddings, non-pork food items and medicines.

Donations, she said, can be delivered to the Provincial Administrator’s Office at the provincial capitol in Bayombong town, or call (078) 392-0773.

“In this dark hour, let us be the light for our fellow countrymen.Together, let us help our kababayans in Marawi,” she said.
