GENERAL TRIAS CITY—The local government led by Mayor Antonio “Ony” Ferrer on Wednesday celebrated Health Worker’s, Daycare Worker’s, and Women’s Desk Officer’s Day through the “Only in Gentri” project of the city chief executive held at Amanda’s Resort in Tanza town.

More than 600 workers from the City Health office, Barangay Health workers of 33 component barangays, day care center workers, and women’s desk officers attended the annual project of Ferrer together with his brother Cavite 6th District Rep. Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV, Vice Mayor Morit Sison, and city councilor.

Cavite Councilors’ League president Kerby Salazar, chairman of the City Council committee on health, nutrition and population, initiated the program in 2011 to give recognition to the local health workers.

“This day recognizes and honors your service to our city and its residents,” Ferrer said. “We’re the only city that celebrates this kind of project in the whole country, and we have no plans to stop this.” The mayor also encouraged the city council to file an ordinance making the health workers’ salaries “institutionalized.”
