Cabarroguis, Quirino—The Quirino Tourism Council will be conducting a provincewide search for best homes and barangays in a bid to instill positive Filipino family values and qualities.
Thelma Bicarme, Philippine Information Agency information officer, said the Search for Model Homes and Barangays in Quirino will be conducted annually starting this year.
“This program aims to inculcate in the minds of the residents the values of self-discipline, self-reliance, resourcefulness, cooperation, cleanliness and environmental awareness,” she said.
Bicarme said the search is open for all house owners with houses worth less than P1 million each and all barangays of the six towns of Quirino, such as Saguday, Cabarroguis, Maddela, Nagtipunan, Diffun and Aglipay.
Entries for both searches will be given awards in the municipal and provincial levels.
“Entry homes and barangays will be visited by the Municipal Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, which will carry out three validation procedures from February to November,” Bicarme said.
She said the entries for the model families will be chosen based on the following criteria: cleanliness and sanitation, 40 percent, and landscape and beautification, 60 percent.
Model barangays will also be ranked with the following criteria: cleanliness and sanitation, 40 percent; landscape and beautification, 40 percent; and community support system and sustainability, 20 percent.
Bicarme said model home winners will be given P50,000 for the first prize, P30,000 for second; P20,000 for third, and three consolation prizes of P10,000 each.
The model barangay winners will bring home P150,000 for first prize; P100,000 for second; P75,000 for third and three consolation prizes worth P50,000 each.
“Leadership awardees will also get a plaque of recognition and a cash prize of P25,000 each,” she added.
Winners of the search will be awarded during the opening of “Paskuhan sa Quirino 2017” in December this year, Bicarme said.
