A total of 32 teams will compete for honors in the 2nd PSC Inter-Public Schools Volleyball Tournament opening at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the Davao City National High School.

Karlo R. Pates, executive assistant of Philippine Sports Commission Commissioner Charles Raymond A. Maxey, said the tournament, which will end on Friday, will have eight teams each entered in the elementary boys and girls and secondary boys and girls divisions.

“This year is bigger than last year’s launch since the boys’ category and secondary division are already included,” Pates said.

The volleyfest, which offers cash prizes of P5,000, P4,000 and P3,000 to the top three teams in each category, is in partnership with Sports Development Division-City Mayor’s Office and Department of Education Davao City.

Pates also said: “All teams were selected through DepEd’s district meets.”

“This is one of our grassroots sports programs for volleyball. We want to provide an avenue for volleyball players from public schools in the city to engage in a healthy and competitive environment through this event,” said Commissioner Maxey, who will be witnessing the games of the three-day meet.
