REIGNING three-time girls’ champion National University and University of Santo Tomas will cross paths for the fifth straight Finals after dismantling their respective Final Four foes in the UAAP Season 80 high school volleyball tournament over the weekend at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Bullpups tripped first-time semifinalist Far Eastern University-Diliman, 25-27, 25-11, 25-15, 25-23, while the Junior Tigresses bested La Salle-Zobel, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18, 25-16.

NU and UST open their best-of-three series on Nov. 27 at the San Juan arena.

The Junior Tigresses won their first championship meeting in Season 76 before the Bullpups ruled the last three tournaments.

The Junior Lady Spikers finished third, while the Baby Tamaraws achieved their best finish ever at fourth.

FEU-Diliman, meanwhile, reached its first-ever boys’ Finals after beating fourth-ranked University of the East, 22-25, 25-23, 28-30, 25-17, 15-12.

Only formed in Season 77, the Baby Tamaraws have made it this far, as the Diliman-based spikers finished with a 12-2 record and survived a tough Junior Warriors’ stand in the Final Four to advance.

FEU-Diliman will wait for a couple of days to determine its championship opponent as titleholder NU outlasted second-ranked UST, 25-16, 25-21, 17-25, 26-28, 15-11, to force a do-or-die.

The Final Four decider is set on Wednesday.

The Tiger Cubs beat the Bullpups, 25-23, 12-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10, in last Friday’s playoff to clinch the twice-to-beat bonus.
