Filipina standout Jomary “The Zamboanguena Fighter” Torres will have another opportunity to break her dry spell as she makes her second appearance inside the ONE circle this year.

Torres is slated to duke it out with Malaysian star Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan in a three-round atomweight affair at ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY which takes place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala, Lumpur, Malaysia on 12 July.

The Filipina breakout star dropped her third consecutive match after a first-round submission loss against Lin “Fighting Sister” Heqin of China at ONE: REIGN OF VALOR in Yangon, Myanmar last 8 March.

But despite the series of setbacks, Torres remains in high spirits as she’s ready to redeem herself against the hometown favorite

“I am so grateful that I was given another chance to fight. I had many mistakes in my last fight and I want to bounce back and improve my game more,” said Torres.

“I’ve made a lot of adjustments and I’ve prepared well. I am excited to show my improvements in Malaysia.

Since her loss in Yangon, Torres has certainly left no stones unturned.

Torres went to Indonesia alongside head coach Rene Catalan to sharpen her mental strength and wushu game.

Despite suffering consecutive losses, Torres’ confidence remains unshaken.

“I am determined to be even better in martial arts and that’s why I make sure to work on the things that could help me,” said Torres. “I know I’ve been losing but this won’t stop my dedication and belief in myself.”

The woman standing in her is the hometown bet Radzuan, who also seeks to bounce back after losing for the first time against Team Lakay’s Gina “Conviction” Iniong at ONE: CLASH OF LEGENDS last February.

The talented 20-year-old owns a professional record of four wins with just one loss and is also a former Wushu World Champion and MIMMA Women’s Champion.

Radzuan is also regarded by many as the future of women’s martial arts in Malaysia.

“I know that she’s a strong fighter and that she’s hungry for a win but I will do everything so I can keep up with whatever she’ll throw in our fight,” said Torres.

“I am working triple time during training sessions and I feel like I am a much better fighter today, I am much more confident in my game.”

Once regarded as the dark horse of atomweight division after scoring three impressive victories in The Home of Martial Arts, Torres believes that a decisive win here can bring her back to that stature.

“For as long as there are opportunities and I’m given a chance to showcase my talent, I’ll keep on competing. I’ll do everything to get that win and prove that I am one of the elite in my division.”
