Filipina standout Jomary "The Zamboanginian Fighter" Torres knows that she may only have one shot to turn things around in ONE Championship.
According to Torres, it is something that she does not plan on wasting
Torres will go toe-to-toe against Lin Heqin of China at ONE: REIGN OF VALOR, which takes place at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar this Friday, 8 March.
It is the perfect opportunity for Torres to redeem herself after consecutive losses, and she certainly feels the sense of urgency entering this match.
“I can’t afford to lose again,” Torres said as she dropped back-to-back decision losses to Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol and Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi to end her 2018.
Torres, however, is confident that things will be different for her this time around.
The young warrior out of the Zamboanga peninsula is 100 percent healthy entering this contest, unlike in her previous two outings where she struggled with an ankle injury.
“Unlike my previous training camps where I had to go through with an ankle injury, me and Coach Rene was able to maximize my preparations for Lin,” Torres shared.
“We worked on bringing back the hunger in my game as well as improving my aggressiveness, which was for me the main reason I started my mixed martial arts campaign with three-straight wins.”
Despite losing her last two matches, Torres believes that the combination of the things she learned from her failures and her hunger to get back in the winner’s column will make her a better athlete moving forward.
“I learned a lot of things in those two losses. These things gave me added motivation to become a better mixed martial artist,” she declared.
“In this sport, you must have an outstanding will to win, and the rest will follow and will lead you to victory.
“Not everyone is destined to be successful, but you always have the option to become one if you want to. It’s all about your determination. You will be seeing a different Jomary Torres this March 8."
