Filipino flyweight standout Ramon “The Bicolano” Gonzales is patiently waiting for a phone call from his bosses at ONE Championship.

Coming off an impressive first-round submission win over Indonesia’s Dodie Mardian at ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES in October 2018, Gonzales hopes to continue his momentum.

If it is up to him, he already has a return date in mind.

“I have always been requesting to be included in a Manila card. I’m free on April 12, I’m eager to showcase my talents in front of my kababayans and to represent Bicol," Gonzales said, referring to ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR, which takes place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines..

“I'm eager to get back to the ONE Championship stage and continue where I left off.”

Gonzales, a kyokushin karate black belt and a three-time national champion in the same discipline, stressed that he has not stopped working since that big win a few months ago.

After opening his stint in The Home Of Martial Arts with consecutive losses, Gonzales seemed to have finally found his footing after winning his last contests convincingly.

“Me and my team have been training day and night after I won in Thailand. I’m very excited to represent the country once again and show the world how talented Filipinos are,” he stated.

Originally just a striker with a kyokushin karate background, Gonzales has evolved into a much more well-rounded competitor as he got two submission victories in his last two outings.

Now that he is reaping the fruits of his hard labor, Gonzales has no plans of stopping as he hopes to impress his home country if he is given the chance.

“I’ve been upgrading my overall game to make sure that I’ll be prepared on whatever challenge I will be facing on the ONE Championship stage,” he declared.

“I’m hoping that they will offer me a match in Manila, to be included in that event will be amazing.”
