Pacio gets world title rematch in ONE’s PH return

Joshua “The Passion” Pacio’s much-awaited rematch with ONE Strawweight World Champion Yosuke “Tobizaru” Saruta is finally coming to fruition.

The two will once again go at it when The Home Of Martial Arts returns to the Philippines for  ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR on 12 April at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines

Pacio and Saruta burned the house down at ONE: ETERNAL GLORY last January, with the  diminutive strawweights going back-and-forth from the opening bell up to the final salvo.

The 23-year-old Team Lakay prodigy looked good in trading strikes with his older Japanese foe, implementing a meticulous game plan which involves a lot of patience and accuracy in his counter shots.

But it was Saruta who eventually took the razor-thin decision, as his aggressiveness for most of the match was favored by the judges in the end.

Now Pacio gets his shot at redemption.

“That fight showed me a lot of things that I needed to work on in my game. It was a great experience for me, as it showed me the things that I need to work on heading into the rematch,” he said.

“I’m happy for the opportunity and I will do everything to get the belt back to the Philippines.”

Pacio admitted that he could have been more aggressive, and that he gave his opponent an opportunity to get the decision victory with his constant action.

Now that their roles are reversed, and it’s Pacio’s turn to be the challenger. The Baguio City native promises that he will leave little room for doubts in the rematch.

“We will be more decisive and I will try hard to make sure to settle this clearly,” he stated.

The rematch will serve as precursor to a blockbuster main event as Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen returns to action to defend the ONE Featherweight World Title against former World Champion Narantungalag Jadambaa of Mongolia.
