Filipino KO artist Miado targets repeat win over Thai legend

Fresh from one of his best performances as a mixed martial artist, Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado feels that he is at the highest point of his professional career.

Now the Filipino knockout artist looks to carry that same momentum when he takes on Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke in a rematch at ONE: CALL TO GREATNESS, which takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, 22 February.

Miado, a power puncher who hails from Albay, scored his second highlight-reel victory in ONE Championship last November when he knocked out China’s Peng Xue Wen in the second round of their strawweight encounter at ONE: CONQUEST OF CHAMPIONS in Manila.

The real highlight of his year, however, came last March when he knocked out the former ONE Strawweight World Champion in Bangkok, Thailand.

That victory sent shockwaves all throughout the division, and it proved “The Jaguar” was one of the premier talents in the weight class.

“Mentally and physically, I feel that I’m stronger than ever,” Miado said.

“It was worth it, especially that I had the chance to improve on my strengths and skills, which was evident in my victory over Peng.

“Not being overconfident, but I feel that I’m a different athlete now.”

Although he claims to be a different athlete altogether, Miado will certainly be looking for the same result when he takes on “Kru Rong” for the second time.

Miado needed just 81 seconds to score the knockout win at ONE: IRON WILL, and he vows to get the same result to finally put all the doubts regarding that victory to rest.

"Some people are saying it was a lucky shot, that I just got the timing right. I don’t want to defend myself from them. I understand why they think that, which is why I readily accepted this rematch,” the Filipino shared.

"They are entitled to their opinions, but for me, whenever I have an upcoming match, I prepare for it to the best of my abilities to show what I can do. That’s how I have always been – win or lose, I give my everything out there."

Hungry for a World Title shot, Miado knows the only way to get there is to keep winning, and that adds further motivation in beating his Thai foe for the second straight time.

“Strawweight is one of the deepest divisions in ONE Championship, and there are so many great guys all wanting to get to the top,” he asserted.

“I know that I still have a long way ahead of me, but I have to keep winning so I can stay in the mix.”
