The national coaches are set to meet with with Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William ‘‘Butch’’ Ramirez to discuss the ongoing preparations for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Ramirez, as chef de mission of the national delegation, will ask the coaches how ready Filipino athletes are when they gather today at the Philsports Complex in Pasig.
There will be 529 golds at stake in 56 sports in the Games.
And the Philippine Olympic Committee is setting its eyes at 120 gold medals.
“How your athletes will do it is up to you,” said Ramirez during last week’s meeting with the national sports associations.
The number of participants in Philippine delegation is expected to be around 2,000, including 1,600 athletes.
Metro Manila will host popular events like basketball, boxing and volleyball.
On the other hand, mandatory events like swimming and athletics will be held in the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.
There will also be events in the Subic Bay area, in Tagaytay, Batangas and La Union.
Ramirez and the board members of the PSC will meet to talk about their logistical needs and expenses that will be needed to prepare the many athletes who are competing.
