Thai Arpichaya Yubol celebrates her breakthrough win on the LPGT.

The 17-year-old golfer hit a 5-foot birdie putt in the 534-yard, par 5 18th hole to submit an even-par 71 score and finish with a 54-hole tally of four under 209.

Saso, who was in the same flight with Yubol, had a two over par 3 score after nine holes and struggled from four bogeys in the backnine. Scoring a couple of pars in the last two holes for a one-over 72 enabled Saso to settle for second spot with a 210.

“I’m really happy for this win. This is a new experience for me,” said Yubol, who came from her second international title since winning the Singapore Junior Championship.

Yubol, who hails from Bangkok, went on to claim the net prize of $13,125 after coming up with rounds of 70, 68, 71.

Yubol’s victory also underscored Thailand’s domination of the circuit organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., joining compatriots Yupaporn Kawinpakorn (Pradera Verde) and Thanutra Boonraksasat (Southwoods) in the winners’ circle with six legs left in the seventh season of LPGT. The Thais also won six of 11 tournaments last season.

Saso, who said there was nothing wrong with her game that afternoon, got a trophy for her runnerup finish, and no cash award due to her amateur status.

“There was no problem with my game today. Sometimes things go your way, sometimes, it doesn’t,” said Saso, who had rounds of 67, 71 and 72.

Taiwanese bets Hsuan Chen and Tzu-Yi Chang settled for third and fourth, respectively, with similar 212 totals.

Sock Hwee Koh of Singapore was fifth (213).

Saso started her day by scoring pars on the first three holes to take a one-stroke lead over Yubol and Chang.

Thai Pimpadsorn Sangkagaro limped with a 73 and dropped to sixth at 214 while 2017 LPGT Order of Merit champion Pauline del Rosario carded a second straight 72 and tied for seventh at 215 with Thai Chommapat Pongthanarak (72) and Japanese Mina Nakayama (75).

Taiwanese Hsin Lee and Yui Noritomi shared 10th place at 216 after a 71 and 76, respectively, while reigning LPGT OOM winner Princess Superal closed out the way she started, hobbling with a 74 and winding up at joint 21st with Japanese Wakana Kinjo (74) at 220 in the event backed by Custom Clubmakers, Meralco, K&G Golf Apparel, BDO, Sharp, KZG, PLDT, Empire Golf and Sports and M.Y.
