Volunteers are trickling in and are seeking jobs that will help organizers manage and prepare for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas said the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee is now getting a lot of applicants from here and abroad.

“There are volunteers already. And I understand that there are volunteers from overseas who have written us,” said Vargas.

Vargas was informed of the interest coming from volunteer groups and individuals who would like and pitch in to help.

Philsoc executive director Ramon Suzara informed Vargas of this following a meeting last week.

Vargas said people involved in organizing and preparing for the 2019 SEA Games need to step it up, now that they only have nine months to go.

President Rodrigo Duterte has already ordered issued Memorandum Circular no. 56, and Vargas feels that this is a welcome development.

The memorandum encourages all government agencies, the Philippine Sports Commission and the POC to extend their support with the Phisgoc in its work to manage and run things.

Vargas visited the facilities of the Pretty Huge Obstacle Course at the SM Aura in Taguig, and said that the place is suitable as training venue for national athletes.

The course that’s located inside a warehouse has already been certified by the POC.

Vargas has been meeting with the Phisgoc in Makati to discuss the marketing aspects of the Games, and the role that sponsors will play.
