Dino, Peralta bag 4 golds, Cabonel breaks Philippine record

Arman Dino and Anthony Peralta emerged as quadruple gold medalists, while Evaristo Carbonel set a new national mark in the men’s discus throw at the end of the PSC-PHILSPADA National Paralympic Games at the Marikina Sports Center yesterday.

Carrying the colors of Cebu City, Dino added the T 46-47 men’s 200-meter gold with a winning time of 23.96 seconds at the conclusion of the meet organized by the Philippine Sports Association for Disabled Athletes and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission,

The 2017 Malaysia ASEAN Para Games double silver medalist earlier won the100-meter and 400-meter runs, while anchoring the Cebu City bets to victory in the 4×100-meter relay in the sportsfest also supported by the Marikina City government, led by Mayor Marcelino Teodoro.

The pride of San Carlos, Pangasinan, Peralta, who bagged four golds in the Palarong Pambansa Paralympic trackfest held last month in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, duplicated the feat in ruling the T-20 men’s 200-meter race in 24.02 seconds.

He earlier captured the men’s 100-meter and 400-meter runs and also anchored the San Carlos campaigners to victory in the men’s 4×100-meter relay.

Also sharing the spotlight was Dino’s fellow national athlete Carbonel, who hurled the discus throw to a distance of 29.86 meters, eclipsing his old mark of 27.95 meters set in May 2017 at the Paris Para Athleetic Grand Prix.

World Paralympic Games bronze medalist Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta of Quezon City, as expected, ruled the women’s 86-kilogram and over division in powerlifting with a total lift of 110 kilos.

Region 4A (Calabarzon) and Baguio City bagged a pair of golds each in the men’s powerlifting division,

Calabarzon’s Elenio Salud and Jefrey Jaramillo hoisted the golds with lifts of 70 and 60 kilos, respectively, the 49-kg and 107 and over kilogram category.

Baguio City’s Romeo Tayawa Jr. secured the 54-kg. mint with a lift of 127 kilos while teammate Agustin Kitan was tops in the 65-kg class in hoisting 150 kilograms.
