So, Shankland play to a draw in US chess

FILIPINO grandmaster Wesley So played to a 50-move draw with Samuel Shankland in their Gruenfeld Defense games last Wednesday in Round 8 of the 2018 United States Chess Championships in St. Louis, Missouri.

Shankland then found himself sharing the lead with Fabiano Caruana, who turned back Varuzhan Akobian in 30 moves of a French Defense.

Amor Deloso, an avid chess player, and GM Eugene Torre essay the ceremonial moves surrounded by some of the bumper crop of entries in the ongoing National Age Group Chess Championships in Iba, Zambales. Philippine Sports Commission and Province of Zambales sponsor the tourney organized by National Chess Federation 
of the Philippines. 

So is now in solo second with 4.5 points, while Akobian fell to fifth with 3.5 points.

Akobian has 3.5 points with Yaroslav Zherebukh and Zviad Izoria, who stopped Hikaru Nakamura in 92 moves of a Reti Opening.

Because of this, Nakamura has three points at fourth with Jeffrey Xiong and Awonder Liang. Peter Atencio
