Rep. Antonio savors World Slasher feat

“MINSAN, malungkot din pala kapag solo champ ka lang, hindi gaanong maingay,” World Slasher Cup 2018 solo champ Patrick “Idol” Antonio jokingly said during his winner’s press conference at Novotel-Araneta Center in Cubao.

“Pero ‘di bale na, dito nalang tayo sa tahimik at masaya kaysa magulo at maingay,” he added during his speech.

Rep. Antonio, one of the winningest cockers in the Philippines, emerged as the lone victor of the International Invitational 9-cock Derby as he bested nearly 300 local and foreign participants.

His entry Sagupaan B-50 Forten/Hammer PA and Inguel finished the tourney with 8.5 points after a grueling 88-fight Grand Finals, hosted by Pintakasi of Champions and sponsored by B-Meg, Thunderbird, Petron, Excellence Poultry, & Livestock Specialists.

The weeklong spectacle was also supported by Warhawk, media partners PitGames Media Inc., and the Journal Group.

Those that came close to victory with eight points each were Biboy Enriquez’ Firevbird 2 entry; Arnold Mendoza’s Legacy LSU; Frank Berin (WSC 2017 Solo Champ)/ Danny Buldog’s Feb 9 Entry; Henry Teves’ Tiffany entry; and newbie Rey Canedo of Davao and his teammates Chris Sioson and PitGames CEO Manny Berbano’s RC Warriors & Chris Purple Entry.

With the surprise good performance of first-timers, newcomers are expected to try their luck when the WSC 2 returns on May 6 to 12. The same nine-cock format will be adopted in the shorter, seven-day cockfest.
