Manila Cockers Club elect execs, vow to ensure top-quality fights

THE Breeders Association of the Manila Cockers Club, the newest player and game changer in the Philippine cockfighting industry, held its initial membership meeting and elected its Board of Directors and officers at the banquet rooms of the San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park in Carmona, Cavite.

Jose “Peping” Ricafort was elected Chairman Emeritus of the  Board of  Directors, with the six elected officers of the committee being Rep. Amado Bagatsing as Chairman; Don Mauro Prieto as Vice Chairman; Boy Marzo, as President; Rep. Lawrence Wacnang as Vice­  President; Atty. Lucien Sayuno as Treasurer; and  Ding Magboo as Secretary.

The committees and their elected chairpersons are: Membership Committee,  Rene “Boy Diaz; Rules Committee, Rep. Wacnang; Finance Committee, Rep. Amado Bagatsing and Atty. Sayuno; and Derby Committee, Hanson “Honey” Yu, Magboo, and Engr. Ireneo “Rene” Moralita.

Other members of the Board of Directors are Barry Baricar, Jun Benedicto, Pete Benedicto, Jun Sevilla, Danny Coronel, Ting Coscolluella, Carlos Tumpalan, Antonio “Tony” Espinosa, Jebe Gayanelo, Jimmy Zapata, Monet Lao, Arnie Teves, Antonio “Nino” Mabanta and Hector Magpantay.

With the formation of the Breeders Association, Manila Cockers Club is expected to solidify its position as the premier cockfighting club in the country.

Apart from the strict implementation of standard cockfighting rules, new procedures will be created to ensure that the quality of fights will never be compromised in any situation. 

The Board is also expected to implement new strategies in expanding club operations and membership to include not only breeders in Luzon, but also in Visayas and Mindanao. 

The breeders association shall work closely with the MCC management  to ensure  that its derbies and events are of the highest caliber, its integrity without question, all for the benefit of the cockfighting  and  breeding industry.

New plans are also in place to maximize the use of mobile and off-site technology for cockfighting, ensuring that aficionados from all over the  Philippines and  the  world remain part of the  game wherever  they are.

The MCC is a subsidiary of the Manila Jockey Club, Inc., established to organize, manage and promote a world-class cockfighting facility in Carmona, Cavite under Municipal Ordinance No. 017-2014. It is the operator of the Cockers Arena, an exclusive studio cockpit at the San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park in Carmona, Cavite.
