For Amaya, who is the wife of former archer and Tarlac vice governot Kit Cojuangco, it was one of her best showings in an international meet.

In the same tournament in 2015, she claimed 5 golds, out of the 7-gold medal haul made by team Philippines.

In women’s recurve, it was 15-year-old Nicole Tagle who came up with a strong showing on her first international campaign after taking the bronze medal.

She disposed of 43rd seed Anastasiya Turkina of Kazakhstan, 6-2, before upsetting 11th seed Natalia Erdynieva of Russia, 6-4.

Tagle stayed on course for a finals’ seat when she edged 6th seed Rajendra Shitole of India, 6-4, and third  seed Farida Tukebayeva, 6-5, via a 10-9 shootoff.

In the semis, Tagle absorbed  a 3-7 defeat to 7th seed Thi Dao Loc of Vietnam.

She settled for the bronze when Tagle bowed to 21st seed Ray Shamoli of Bangladesh, 4-6, in the consolation round.

The Philippines will still see action in the Olympic Rounds of the recurve and compound team events this weekend.
