THE 2018 World Slasher Cup Invitational 9-Cock Derby 2 finally opens on Sunday (May 6), at the air-conditioned and historic Smart Araneta Coliseum with a big cast of local and international participants.
Supported by Thunderbird, Petron, Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists, and media partners PitGames Media Inc., The Journal Group, Pilipino Mirror, Balita and Tempo, the six-day super event will be hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions.
Last year's WSC 2 co-champions Frank Berin, Dante Eslabon and the Escolin Brothers return to the famous arena as top favorites to defend their titles.
But cockfight idol Patrick Antonio, the 2018 WSC 1 solo champ, together with runners-up Biboy Enriquez, Manny Berbano, Cris Sioson and Rey Canedo are equally formidable with their new winning lines.
Also set to compete are Dicky Lim, Eddie Araneta, James Uy, Jimmy Junsay, Wilvin Sy, Rey Briones, Jet and Joel Fernando, Boy Marzo, Paolo Malvar, Joey Sy and Madlambayan Brothers, among others.
The foreigners include USA's Charly Azucena, Ray Alexander of Alabama, Greg Berin of Australia, Rene Medina of California, Dr. Belle Almojera of Florida, Butch Cambra of Hawaii, and Carlos Camacho of Guam.
The complete derby schedule: May 6 and 7 (2-cock elims); May 8 and 9 (3-cock semi-finals); May 11 (4-cock finals for participants with 2 to 3.5 points) and May 12 (4-cock finals for participant with 4 to 5 points).
