Young blood prevails in URCC’s Battle Extreme

YOUNG blood prevailed over a veteran fighter in a classic battle of two “T-Rex” in Manila.

Drex Zamboanga, a 24-year-old top bet of Top Guys International, pinned down his older mixed martial arts opponent, 35-year-old Rex de Lara of MUMMA/Fight Factory for the elegant belt and the vacant title in the main event of the URCC-CF Battle Extreme Tournament of Superstars 3 at the PAGCOR Casino Filipino in Manila Bay Hotel in Ermita, Manila recently.

The fighters, both nicknamed ‘T-Rex,’ engaged in a fierce exchange of attacks until the middle of the penultimate round when Drex caught De Lara napping at the mat with his ferocious attacks en route to winning his first major international victory, the world URCC/MMA bantamweight crown.

In the other mainer, Filipino bet John Adajar of Hitman MMA beat top Korean rival Lee Min Hyeok [Crazy Gwang Gym] via split decision  for the welterweight plum, while another Korean bet in Moon Syeung Gyu took sweet revenge for his countryman, knocking out Southeast Asian Fighting Championship  title holder Ruel Rio [Yaw Tan] in  only 42 seconds of the first round of their welterweight title clash.

The tournament was organized by Universal Reality Combat Championship of founding president Prof. Alvin Aguilar and presented by Casino Filipino of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, led by AVP-Entertainment czar Jimmy Bondoc.

In other fight night cards, Jim Kimmayong of the Elements MMA, decisioned Eff Sevilla of Team Fight Republic, while Lucky Mateo of Fight Corporation  beat Crisz Aplicador of Hitman MMA.

Michael Fengki of FC won via the scorecards over Arvin Bongala  of ACT MMA, while Arvin Chan of DEN MMA defeated Paulo Almendrela in  a verbal tapout at 1:15 of the first round.

Meanwhile, Ariel Olivarez of Brown House  MMA, won via TKO over Eddie Estrada of Yaw Yan Buhawi in the first round, while Pepito Masangkay of DEN MMA stopped Oyo Cruz of Hitman MMA via TKO.
