THE Prince will soon be a King.

Young basketball sensation Prince Ray Alao of San Beda University-Taytay is arguably one of the best discoveries in the local scholastic cage competitions.

A 14-year-old cager standing 6-feet, Alao is dominating school tournaments in Metro Manila, making him stand out against other players of his age category.

With the various MVP awards he has received in tournaments he played, Alao has given honor to his school, while entertaining the crowd and kibitzers with his exceptional basketball talent. No doubt, this kid has a bright future ahead of him.

As a highlight of his early rise, the Antipolo kid was chosen Jr. NBA U-13 Most Valuable Player this year in Makati City. He also currently leads the Philippine team in its quest for glory in Jr. NBA International All-Star event in Shanghai, China, showcasing  49 other participating countries around the globe. There, he personally witnessed the Dallas Mavericks live in an exhibition game against the Beijing Ducks.

The four-day stint in Shanghai is surely expected to boost Alao’s skills further.

The Prince’s passion for basketball was influenced by his father mentor Ray Alao, a commercial basketball cager during his prime.

He learned the sport in local hoop games in their village in Antipolo, Rizal from his elementary days to high school in Taytay as a certified Red Cub through San Beda’s renowned basketball program.

The leader of the successful Philippine Team that ruled the 2018 Pacific Rim U-13 in Thailand last summer is also expected to continue to broaden his talent for San Beda University after his Jr. NBA experience.

He also vowed to share what he learned in Shanghai to kids in Antipolo as he continues to dribble his way towards his dream of being a king in basketball hoopdom someday.
