For the league’s first overseas game this season, Barangay Ginebra and Rain or Shine were tapped by the Philippine Basketball Association to play in Guam next month.

The Gin Kings and the Elasto Painters are slated to play their Governors’ Cup elimination round encounter there this coming Oct. 13 in the lone game there at the US territory in Micronesia.

This will be the first time that the PBA will hold a game outside of the Philippines for the season.

The last time the league went to play in Guam was 12 years ago, way back in 2006, wherein Alaska battled then franchise Red Bull.

Given the sizeable number of Filipinos in the area, the PBA was enticed to conduct another one there.

As for the league’s future plans, it is looking at playing a couple of games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates next season.

In other important league matters scheduled, the Draft will be held on Dec. 16, while the Leo Awards will be conducted in January, along with the opening ceremonies of the coming 44th season.

Usually, the awarding special is held around the finals of the season-ending Governors’ Cup, but given all the breaks the league are observing, it was decided to instead hold it at the start of next season.
