Falcons kings of 14th Fr. Martin Cup cagefest

THE Adamson Falcons banked on a strong start to beat the San Beda University-A Red Lions, 105-59, recently to bag the c at the St. Placid Gymnasium of the San Beda Manila Campus in Mendiola.

 Jerrick Ahanmisi led the way in the first period, knocking in eight of 14 points to carry the Falcons to a 26-13 advantage in the first 10 minutes of play.

 “This just concluded tournament is a training ground for us to prepare for the coming UAAP season,” said Falcons’ coach Franz Pumaren.

 Congo cager Lenda Demarcia top-scored with 20 points for the Falcons, who swept their five-game, elimination-round assignment in Group B.

 The Falcons reached the finals following a win over the University of Perpetual Help-Altas, 96-86, in the semifinals.

 Demarcia unloaded nine points in the second period and his presence underneath allowed the Falcons to finish the quarter with a 55-27 halftime spread.

 Kyle Carlos stepped  it up for the Red Lions with 19 points, while Kenneth Mocon tallied 18.

 Ahanmisi’s first triple came during a 11-2 blast, sending the Falcons to a 20-4 edge in the last five minutes.

 Meanwhile, organizer Edmundo Badolato said  the 24th Fr. Martin Cup summer tournament will begin on April 14 at the  St. Placid Gymnasium of the San Beda Manila Campus in Mendiola.

 Around 39 school are initially listed to join, with the Diliman College Blue Dragons among the 12 squads expected to join the senior division, according to Commissioner Robert de la Rosa.

 There are nine squads that are tentatively signed up in the women’s division, while 18 quintets are in the junior division list.
