THE world’s biggest basketball stars are set to converge once again for the annual NBA All-Star weekend, which will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, USA on ABS-CBN on Saturday and on S+ A on Sunday and Monday.

The festivities, which will feature a new All-Star Game format, begin with the Mountain Dew Kickstart Rising Stars Challenge this Saturday, which will be aired live on Channel 2 at 10 a.m. for “NBA SabaDOS” with coaches Ronnie Magsanoc and Benjie Paras covering the game.

The event features the top performing rookies and sophomores in a battle between Team USA and Team World. Team World is led by Philadelphia 76ers’ young superstars Joel Embiid from Cameroon and Ben Simmons from Australia. The US team, on the other hand, is bannered by electrifying Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma.

On Sunday at 9 a.m., Embiid and fellow big men Andre Drummond, Lauri Markannen, and Al Horford will take on the Taco Bell Skills Challenge. Rockets guard Eric Gordon, meanwhile, will try to defend his crown in the JBL Three-Point Contest against the likes of 2016 three-point king Klay Thompson, Kyle Lowry, Paul George, and Bradley Beal, while high-flyers led by Victor Oladipo, Larry Nance Jr., and explosive rookies Mitchell and Dennis Smith Jr. will rock the crowd in the Verizon Slam Dunk contest.
