Chiang Kai Shek, Miriam crowned cage champs

CHIANG Kai Shek College snared a third straight juniors’ basketball title while midgets’ basketball has a new champion in Miriam College in the 48th Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Assumption College likewise shared the limelight by ruling both juniors and seniors divisions of the futsal event.

CKSC capped its sweep of the best-of-three finals with an 88-57 whipping of De La Salle Zobel at Rizal Memorial Coliseum over the weekend.  

La Salle College Antipolo beat San Beda College Alabang for third place, 65-53.

Miriam also swept the midgets’ championship against St. Paul College Pasig, winning Game 2, 68-50.  

DLSZ has lorded it over the division for the past seven seasons.

Two weeks ago, Centro Escolar University bagged a seventh straight seniors’ plum.

Assumption, led by Most Valuable Player Martina Therese Roxas, downed LSCA in the juniors finals, while the seniors’ squad stopped CEU.

Other junior individual awardees were DLSZ’s Alisha Claire del Campo (Best Scorer),  Miriam’s Kasandra Marie Zalamea (Best Striker), LSCA’s Mhartina Andrea Cruz (Best Midfielder), LSCA’s Princes Ada Wenceslao (Best Goalkeeper) and DLSZ’s  Marie Isulat (Best Defender).
