Durham remains unfazed by deficit

FOR the second straight season, Allen Durham was named as the Best Import in the Governors’ Cup of the Philippine Basketball Association.

He now has two Best Import plums but he is still not giving up on his dream of hoisting up the bigger trophy.

Despite Meralco’s 0-2 defcit in its best-of-seven titular showdown against Barangay Ginebra, Durham is still upbeat of his team’s chances.

He believes that the Bolts can still come back and win it all.

“We’re still not out of it,” said Durham. “We’re facing a hole but it’s not too deep. We can still get ourselves back and give ourselves a chance.”

Meralco Bolts import and PBA awardee for Best Import Allen Durham (5) tries to drive past Barangay Ginebra counterpart Justin Brownlee (32). Despite a 0-2 deficit Durham said he believes the Bolts can still come back to win it all.

However, Durham admits that Meralco needs to turn the tide in Game 3 tomorrow in order to stay in the hunt for an elusive first championship.

“Definitely, we have to win Game 3. We played better in Game 2 but we still fell short. We failed to close out. We need to turn it around and be the better team for 48 minutes.”

After routing Meralco in Game 1, the Gin Kings had a harder time before taking Game 2, 86-76, by taking charge in the clutch.

So far in the series, Durham has been showing why he’s the Best Import, putting up consistent numbers.

However, he isn’t getting enough support from his teammates up to this point.
