STAR shoots for a second-place tie, while three others seek for a first win as action in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup continues.

The Hotshots (1-0) will renew their rivalry with ailing Alaska (0-2) in the main event at 7 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City tonight.

In the appetizer, Commissioner’s Cup runner-up TNT KaTropa will make its debut as it takes on winless Kia Picanto (0-2) at 4:15 p.m.

Continuing from its momentum last conference, Star opened its campaign with a solid showing, emphatically winning its first assignment against Blackwater last Sunday, 103-86.

Despite winning its first assignment, Star wasn’t hardly impressed with its original import Cinmeon Bowers, forcing the team to gamble and change its reinforcement.

Bowers was sent packing and in his place, former Illionois Illini standout Malcolm Hill will now take over to backstop the Hotshots.

While Star is tasting success as of late, the same can’t be said of the Aces.

Alaska has lost 10 in a row, dating back to the Commissioner’s Cup and its last setback was a heartbreaking one to take.

The Aces dropped a tough 93-95 decision to Phoenix in their last game last Saturday after Eugene Phelps’ game-winner at the buzzer.

They are hoping to finally end their long misery against Star.

After their tough loss to San Miguel Beer in the Commissioner’s Cup finals, the Tropang Texters will now start their road to redemption and they will parade newbie Michael Craig as their import.

Welcoming them is Markeith Cummings and the Picanto, who is also yet to win a game in two outings, losing its last one to NLEX, 100-93.
