Alaska Aces face Phoenix Fuel Masters

THE Alaska Aces and TNT KaTropa are both aiming to keep their places near the top of the standings when they face separate foes at the resumption of the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.

The Aces (4-1) will look to get back on track when they clash with unpredictable Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters (2-4) at 4:15 p.m. in the opener at the Smart Araneta Coliseum today.

In the nightcap, the rampaging Tropang Texters (4-1), winners of four in a row,  are going to be challenged by ailing GlobalPort (1-4) at 7 p.m.

After starting out on fire with four straight wins, Alaska’s streak was snapped the last time out.

The Aces got clobbered by second-running Meralco Bolts, 99-91, last week.

Now, they will try to keep in-step with the top two teams as they try to get their momentum back when they face the Fuel Masters, who have been inconsistent.

Phoenix blew a 17-point lead and eventually bowed down to defending champion Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 94-96, also last week.

TNT KaTropa has been on a tear as of late, riding a four-game winning run after losing its tournament debut.

It was taken to the limit by Mahindra in its last game before it came out on top, 86-84.

GlobalPort, on the other hand, finally won a game when they beat NLEX, 85-82. They are hoping that this can be the start of something positive.
