De La Salle and National University hope to keep their women’s and men’s championships Monday in the UAAP Season 81 table tennis tournament at the UP CHK Gym.

The Lady Paddlers, gunning for a five-peat, stake their perfect record against University of Santo Tomas in the best-of-three championship series opener at 9 a.m.

The young Bulldogs, seeking a second consecutive crown, take on undefeated UST in their own Finals opener at the same time.

De La Salle, which is eyeing its seventh women’s title overall, registered an immaculate 14-0 slate in the eliminations to gain an outright passage to the Finals.

The Tigresses arranged a championship rematch with the Lady Paddlers after sweeping University of the Philippines, 3-0, in the step-ladder semifinals Saturday.

NU, on the other hand, had to go through the hard way to make it back to the men’s championship as it toppled Far Eastern University, 3-0, in the step-ladder semifinals.

With five newcomers, the Bulldogs of coach Judit Yulde were able to finish second with a 12-2 card behind the Growling Tigers, who went 14-0 in the elims.

UST is making its fourth consecutive finals appearance and the second straight against NU.

Game 2 is set at 1 p.m., while Game 3, if needed, is scheduled at 3 p.m.
