COLLEGE of St. Benilde came alive in the second half as it pounded Arellano University to zoom to the solo lead in the seniors’ division of the 93rd NCAA football competition at the Rizal Memorial Complex grounds Wednesday night.

Leading by just a goal in the first half thanks to Vincent Erik Lovitos’ 12th minute heroics, the Blazers unleashed a four-goal onslaught in the second half to power them to the top with 13 match points on four wins and a draw.

Lovitos and Major Dean Ebarle accounted for three of their team’s four second half goals and finished with a brace apiece.

Carmelo Vicente Genco scored CSB’s only other goal.

The Chiefs skidded from No. 2 to No. 3 as the San Beda Booters were held to a 1-1 standoff by the Lyceum Pirates.

Both San Beda and AU had 10 match points but the former had better goal differential, 27-1.

Nimrod Balabat scored on the 51st minute to give San Beda, the defending champions, a 1-0 lead but Levi Malihan struck back with a rocket of his own on the 73rd for the split.

LPU, which forced CSB to a scoreless draw two weeks back, remained in the magic four with six points.

In the only other game, Perpetual Help and Mapua fought to a 2-2 standoff.
