FILIPINOS get a chance to run, bike and repeat beside the best of the best when they test their mettle against the best duathletes in the world at the 2017 ASTC Powerman Philippines Asian Championships Presented by Summit Drinking Water on October 8 at Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Last year’s winners were noted international duathletes Miriam Van Reijen and Thomas Bruins. They lead an elite cast of competitors from all over the world who will be observed, watched and tested by their local counterparts led by John Chicano.
F&B International Events Group provides the best and most promising among our homegrown duathletes the opportunity to race alongside the best duathletes from around the globe, particularly within the Asian region as it prides itself with being given the honor of this year’s Asian Duathlon Championships in just a few years.
Additionally, the upcoming event will serve as a qualifier for the Powerman World Championships in Zofingen, Switzerland.
“The driving force behind this year’s event is to bring the Filipino duathlete to the world stage. It’s all about investing in their potential with the ultimate goal of sending our top duathletes to the 2019 Powerman World Championships in Zofingen, Switzerland,” said Powerman Philippines general manager and coach Kaye Lopez.
Now on its third year, the race promotes duathlon as a lifestyle, as a sport, and as an event while pushing the boundaries of Filipino athletes by inviting world-class duathletes to local shores.
Race categories include the Powerman Classic (10km run, 60km bike and 10km run), the Powerman Short (5km run, 30km bike and 5km run) and the Powerteens which will traverse the smooth, wide roads of Clark and the scenic views of SCTEx.

Road, triathlon, folding bikes, and mountain bikes will be allowed for the Powerman Short and Powerteens. For Powerman Classic, only road, triathlon, and mountain bikes will be allowed.
All participants, including beginners, are given plenty of time to complete the race. For Powerman Short and Powerteens, cut-off time will be after five hours. For Powerman Classic, cut off time will be after seven hours.
Joining the race is a bargain for participants, as each registrant receives a race kit that includes a bag, race bib, bike decal, helmet decal, timing chip, post-race meal, and other giveaways from our generous sponsors.
However, only the person who registered will be allowed to claim his/her own race entry pack and sign the waiver.
All finishers will also get finishers’ shirts and finishers medals.
To ensure the safety of the racers, as well as the audience watching along the route, there will be roving bike marshals and bike mechanics along the race course. Bike mechanics will also be available at the expo area when participants claim their race kits.
Powerman Duathlon is for everyone who wants to push their boundaries and go beyond their abilities.
The event promotes run-bike-run both as a sport and a lifestyle. It encourages runners to enjoy biking and bikers to love running. It is in combining these two disciplines that true endurance is discovered. Running-biking-running is engaging, not just as a multisport but as a way to experiencing life to the fullest.
Race venue is accessible from Metro Manila. Participants may take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and exit at Dau, then take the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) going to Subic, exit at Clark South.
