FIL-SCOTTISH trackster Connor Henderson said he is serious about his bid to earn a slot in the Philippine national athletics’ pool.

This is the reason why he is definitely going to show up in the coming 2017 Ayala Philippine National Open Invitational Athletics Championships in Ilagan, Isabela.

“I am planning to come there in 3 weeks’ time,” said Henderson in an online chat with the Manila Standard.

Henderson, who is good in the 400-meter hurdles, said he will come early for the National Open, which will be held  from March 28 to April 2.

For many prospective members of the national team, the competition  will serve as a tryout for the national pool.

“Will train there for just over two weeks, then head up to Isabela. Hopefully, by that time, I will have acclimatized,” added Henderson, who found a sponsor and is suiting up  for the Smart Blue Knights team.

The 24-year-old Henderson said he will find out if he can make the grade.

He is expected to join the likes of Fil-American hammer thrower Caleb Stuart, sprinters Kayla and Kyla Richardson, Olympian Eric Cray, Fil-Canadian Zion Corrales and University of Connecticut student Trenten Berram.

Henderson’s best showing last season was when he clocked 49.81 seconds to place fifth in the 400-meter run in the Scottish National Under-17and senior championships.

In the Grangemouth Open, he recorded 1:56.87 in the 800-meter run.
