Donaire undergoing rehab after surgery

Dethroned World Boxing Organization super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire is undergoing rehabilitation and recovering well following surgery to repair two tears on his tendons and a bone spur that he said was “floating in my joint.” In an interview with the Manila Standard, Donaire said: “I’m good. The surgery went well. We needed to get that done.” He said Dr. Shabi Kahn, a sports medicine specialist and orthopedic surgeon at Seton Medical Center in Daly City, “did a really amazing job” in his clinic last weekend. “I feel great. Right now, the most important thing is waiting for the baby. I’m very excited about that and feel very good,” said Donaire. His wife Rachel is expecting their first child, a son, around July 21 and Donaire’s focus is on their first born and not on boxing, at least for the moment. “I want to be 100 percent going into the ring next time around. I’ll give it eight weeks of rehab right now and then begin workouts,” he said.
