A NEW coach will now handle the reigning NCAA champion Letran Knights.

Negotiations are now going on between school officials, alumni and management of La Salle and Letran over the smooth transfer of Aldin Ayo from the Knights to the Archers.

Sources said talks with Ayo to take over as the new coach of the Green Archers have been fruitful and minor details are now being worked out.

The search for the next coach of the Green Archers went into full swing this week after Juno Sauler quit when the Taft-based squad failed to advance to the finals.

A search committee has been formed early this week after Sauler made his decision to quit. A team meeting was held at the end of their game last week.

Insiders said a better opportunity was offered to Ayo following a meeting Wednesday evening with officials of the Green Archers and their manager Danding Cojuangco.

They said Cojuangco’s group is working on a deal to reportedly buy out Ayo’s contract.

Ayo, who coached the Letran Knights to a crown in the 91st NCAA season,  has a multiyear contract with the school.

Officials of Letran, including team manager Ricky Paulino, are reportedly eyeing a new coach and have Kerby Raymundo and Christian Calaguio in their short list of candidates.
