THE second-seed pair of Treat Huey and Henri Kontinen prevailed over Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram, 7-6 (4), 6-2, last Sunday to win the doubles‘ crown of the Kuala Lumpur leg of the ATP World Tour.

Huey and Kontinen reached the finals after they hurdled Andre Bergeman and Artem Sitak, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (2), 10-7, in the semifinals.

In the first round, they got past Marcus Daniel and Marcelo Demoliner, 4-6, 6-2, 10-6.

They then won over Santiago Gonzales and Philip Petzchner, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, top seed David Ferrer clinched his 25th title Sunday after beating fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 7-5, 7-5 to win the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur.

The match was tightly contested but Ferrer‘s determination and deep forehands ultimately  proved too much for Lopez.

“It was my best match of the tournament and my best performance here in Malaysia,” the world number eight told reporters.

“I was consistent with my game and am happy with the victory. My serve was good today and it needed to be because Feliciano pressured me today.”

Ferrer netted victories in Qatar, Rio and Mexico prior to Sunday‘s Malaysian triumph, winning all four finals contested this year.
