UP bet leads PNG winners
UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Integrated School student Priscilla Loren Aquino, San Pedro City’s Skyler Claveria, San Pablo City’s Arianna Herranz, Hannah Dato and Archand Christian Bagsit emerged as among the most bemedalled athletes on Day 6 of the Philippine National Games.
The 17-year-old Aquino finished with four golds and a silver at the close of the three-day swimming competitions at the Rizal Memorial pool.
Aquino, a ninth grader, struck gold in the 15-above girls’ 100-meter breaststroke, the 800-meter freestyle, the 200-meter individual medley and the 200-meter breastroke. She settled for the silver behind University of the East standout Hannah Dato in the 400-meter IM.
The 15-year-old Claveria had four golds and two silvers, with his first place honors coming from the 15-over boys 100-meter breaststroke, the 100-meter butterfly, the 50-meter butterfly and the 50-meter breaststroke.
Herranz, who is from San Pablo City, earned three golds, a silver and three bronze, with her first-place finishes from the 15-above 50-meter backstroke, the 100-meter butterfly and the 100-meter backstroke.
Dato, a University of the East student, also ruled the 15-above girls\ 200-meter freestyle and 50-meter butterfly.
In athletics, Bagsit claimed his third gold medal in the senior men’s 200-meter dash in 21.8 seconds, beating College of St. Benilde’s Jose Unso via photo finish.
