2013 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

From April 22-28, the WTA continues its 2013 tour at Stuttgart, Germany for the 2013 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Coming back as this year’s no.1 seed is defending champion and Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova, who won last year’s tournament after defeating rival Victoria Azarenka, 6-1, 6-4. If the 28-time WTA champion would want to defend her throne, she would have to be ready mentally and physically as there are nine other players in this tournament who are eager to come home with the title like Li Na from China, Angelique Kerber from Germany, and Samantha Stosur, all looking for their first major victory in a 2013 WTA Tour tournament. For Sharapova—currently ranked second in the WTA—winning this tournament for a second consecutive year would add even more accomplishments to her resume and would also give her a shot to overtake Serena Williams for the top spot in the world rankings of the WTA. This will be the 36th edition of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and this year’s tournament will have a prize total of $795, 707. With such high stakes and money prizes on the line, it will be interesting to see who comes out as the winner. Tune in to Solar Sports from April 22 to 28 to catch the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
