Jennylyn Mercado is vying for another Best Actress trophy in this year’s MMFF

Jennylyn Mercado and Derek Ramsay were a big hit in the 2014 romantic comedy English Only, Please by Dan Villegas who directed the two in the upcoming All Of You, opening Dec. 25 during the annual Tagalog moviefest.

According to Villegas, this movie is for mature moviegoers tired of watching the same cookie-cutter romance.

All of You is about a couple at a crossroads in their relationship after three years. Gabby (Jennylyn) and Gab (Derek) realize they have conflicting views on love and marriage. Now, the question is where do they go from here.

“Ito po ‘yung pinaka-mature at pinakatotoo sa tatlo [English Only, Please, Walang Forever, and All of You]. Mas tinarget namin na talagang maging slice of life talaga yung atake ng pelikula… Very real siya kaya nga marami ‘yung love scenes. Kasi ‘di ba ‘pag bago kayo, magka-tinginan lang kayo, tapos eventually, after a few years, ‘pag namatay na ‘yung honeymoon stage, wala nang nangyayari. So ganun ‘yung gusto naming ipakita,” Villegas explained.

When Derek and Jennylyn were asked about those intimate scenes, they admitted that it was uncomfortable at first. Jennylyn, though, was all praises for Derek and Dan, saying they were very protective of her on the set and always made her feel safe.

Ramsay during the movie’s presscon said he’s sure a lot of people would be able to relate to his and Jennylyn’s characters in the movie.

Members of the press who had seen the film during its preview were one in saying the film has a huge chance in the filmfest awards. Remember, Mercado snagged the Best Actress trophy in 2014 for English Only, Please, and many are anticipating the actress will give other stars of other movies a tight competition for the acting honors.

The actress merely shrugged those remarks and said, “I am not expecting anything. I did my best in this movie and I hope the audience would like the movie.”

Ramsay, meanwhile, said that Mercado’s performance is so deserving of an accolade that he wouldn’t be surprised if she’d snag another best actress trophy this time. And as for his performance, the actor said, “Please watch it and be the judge.”
