Dingdong Dantes 'Alyas Robin Hood' actor morphs into crime show host
In show business, anything is possible. An actor can be a fugitive-turned-vigilante in one show and then turn up as a host of a crime show in another.
That’s exactly what’s transpiring in the multi-faceted career of actor Dingdong Dantes, the anointed king of prime time television on the Kapuso network.
While the show he is starring in, Alyas Robinhood, is plodding to its finale next week, he wears a different suit beginning tomorrow after noon as GMA Network introduces Case Solved.
The guys over at the broadcast complex at the corner of EDSA and Timog Avenue calls it it’s a “procedural crime documentary drama program.”
This show aims, says the GMA ETV group, to deliver awareness and public information to the viewers in order to prevent crime. Wow! As they guys in the 90s Manila would exclaim, “Heavy!”
It is really if that’s the prime objective of the program. However, if it were just an infotainment with no lofty ideals, it is okay.
Case Solved features sensational and controversial real-life cases ranging from non-aggressive to violent circumstances derived from Philippines’ Supreme Court Reports Annotated (SCRA) handled by the country’s National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), judicial agencies like the Department of Justice (DOJ), Supreme Court and Bureau of Corrections. More than presenting how the crime is committed, it further explains how the crime is solved.
The show presents solved cases that the producers hope could empower and educate the viewers in predicting the probability of a crime before it occurs. An advocate of justice and peace, Dantes says he is excited to host this show saying it can help educate the viewers in crime prevention.
“I like the concept of the show kasi it’s always good to have concrete stories as example. Also, it shows a positive ending wherein pinapakita ‘yung resolution ng problema. Yung combination of all these things inspires me. With this, gusto ko i-share ito sa mga manunuod. I want them to see a story of triumph dahil gusto nating makakita ng problemang naaayos,”the Kapuso star said.
The actor, who chairs Yes!Pinoy Foundation and was a commissioner of the National Youth Commission during the administration of President Benigno Aquino, dismissed insinuations the show is part of a plan to launch his political career in 2019.
“My focus is my (showbiz) career and family. Though, I think this show will cement whatever it is that I do for public service. But as to being in politics, I don’t have concrete plans and there are no parties talking to me yet,” he said.
Case Solved begins airing tomorrow and every Saturday thereafter, after Eat Bulaga on GMA.
GMA Afternoon Prime series Hahamakin Ang Lahat ends today. Avid fans aren’t the only ones who will miss the soap. Lead stars Kristoffer Martin who plays the role of Junior and Joyce Ching who plays the character of Rachel will miss each other and everything about the show.
Joyce shared what she will miss about Kristoffer and the rest of her co-stars. “Kay Kristoffer, mami-miss ko yung sobrang kakulitan niya and kung gaano kaganda at kaayos yung working relationship namin, pinadali niya talaga ang buhay ko dahil tulungan kami sa mga eskena. Sa co-stars naman, mami-miss ko yung bond namin dahil most of us, teenagers, sobra talaga kaming nakakarelate sa isa’t isa. With Ms. Eula, Sir Ariel, and Ms. Snooky naman, they may be older than us pero sobra rin silang kulit at mahilig mag-joke. Solid yung relationship na nabuo sa cast. I’d probably miss everything about the series.”
Kristoffer took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the entire cast, “Sobrang mami-miss ko yung mga araw na magsisimula tayong masaya, at matatapos yung araw na di tayo pagod at masaya pa rin lahat. Solid ‘tong pamilya na to! Maraming salamat. Mahal ko kayo.”
Many questions are still yet to be answered. Is Laura (Snooky Serna) right in blaming Ivy (Eula Valdez) for the shooting of Alfred (Ariel Rivera)? Will Alfred survive the gunshot wound? Will Santi (Bruno Gabriel) and Phoebe (Thea Tolentino) realize the gravity of everything they have done? Lastly, will Jun and Rachel finally have the freedom to be happy together?
Don’t miss the finale of Hahamakin Ang Lahat today after Ika-6 Na Utos on GMA Afternoon Prime.
