‘My Dear Heart’ spreads love on primetime

ABS-CBN opens 2017 with a touching story that reminds viewers of their capacity to love. The new series, My Dear Heart, started last Monday on Primetime Bida.

After her remarkable performance in Nathaniel, Coney Reyes gives life one more to another powerful character, Dr. Margaret Divinagracia, considered the best heart surgeon in the country. With all the success she has, Margaret holds herself in high esteem.

Yet, everything changes as she meets Heart, played by Kapamilya child star Heart Ramos, the source of strength and happiness of her parents Jude (Zanjoe Marudo) and Clara (Bela Padilla). A happy family, Heart, Jude, and Clara face each of life’s struggles together. Their hopes, though, are destroyed when Heart is diagnosed with congenital heart disease.

Desperate to find a cure for their daughter’s illness, they turn to Dr. Divinagracia. She will face what she considers her biggest failure – her inability to cure Heart’s illness.

This February, the love month, T-Rex Entertainment presents Moonlight Over Baler, a timeless love story encompassing two important events in the country: World War II in the ‘40s and EDSA Revolution in the ‘80s.

Moonligh Over Baler stars Elizabeth Oropesa, Ellen Adarna, and the love team of Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert. Co-starring are Daria Ramirez, Menggie Cobarrubias, and Angie Perro. It is produced by Rex Tiri, written by Eric Ramos, and directed by Gil Portes.

“O Maliwanag na Buwan” is the theme song of this a pre-Valentine offering.

Set in the scenic and historical town of Baler in Aurora Province, the film opens with a Japanese journalist (Abrenica) visiting Baler after covering the EDSA Revolution. By strange coincidence, retired teacher and spinster Fidela finds him the spitting image of Nestor (also portrayed by Abrenica), her great love, a soldier killed during the war.

Sophie Albert plays the young Fidela.

The Japanese falls in love with the town’s beauty (played by Ellen Adarna), whom the retired teacher approves of. Somewhere along the way, violence erupts when another suitor beats the Japanese black and blue, prompting him to leave Baler. He surrenders his love for the town’s belle over the objections of the retired teacher.

The events lead the teacher to reckon with her tragic past. She feels she was to blame for the death of her sweetheart and to date carries the guilt and the loss of love.

The film has a bittersweet ending, a once sad and happy, proving that love conquers all, that love is here to stay. As the song goes, “The world will always welcome lovers as time goes by.”
