Rafael Rosell and Bianca King
New dramatic pair on Kapuso afternoon block

STRAIGHT from his successful take as Nigel Armada in the very successful GMA Network adaptation of the Korean drama Temptation of Wife, Rafael Rosell bounces back on the soap opera front as Kiko Sebastian in the network’s Maghihintay Pa Rin. It took over the slot of Bukod Kang Pinagpala that ended last Friday. In this new drama series, Rosell is paired with Bianca King who was last seen in the series Luna Blanca (Book 3) as Luna Salvador. She now plays the role of  Geneva de Villa who befriends Kiko. The series tests the rapport (or chemistry as people in this business love to call it) between the two actors. Homegrown actor Dion Ignacio plays the man in between the budding relationship between Geneva and Kiko. Eventually, he gets the girl for himself. Maghihintay Pa Rin highlights the difficult situation of a long-distance relationship and the difficulties Geneva and Kiko go through. Also in the cast are JC Tiuseco and Diva Montelaba. The people behind this series say this is the network’s “tribute” to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as Rosell plays one who in the course of the series is incarcerated in a country where he is much a stranger than anything else. Maghihintay Pa Rin is patterned much like its predecessors in the afternoon drama block of the network, and which is very much a big hit among audiences who stay at home at this time of the day. Rosell who at the beginning of his career tended to look away when offered romantic hero roles seems to have found energy after the audience lapped his role up in Temptation of Wife. Will Bianca King fall for Rafael this time? Wasn’t it in Sinner or Saint she was drawn into Dennis Trillo’s beguiling ways? The two have parted ways a long time ago, and King says it’s a big relief.
