MSO in ‘Symphonic Sunsets Concert at Makiling’

People from all walks of life trooped to the Tanghalang Maria Makiling, National Arts Center in Los Baños, Laguna to watch the Manila Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jeffrey Solares perform in a concert recently.

The event was presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines through its Cultural Exchange Department in cooperation with the Philippine High School for the Arts. Featured soloists include Diomedes Saraza, Jr. (violin), Dr. Barney Fojas (guitar), Roy Ressurrecion (oboe), and Andrea Versoza (piano).

Entitled Symphonic Sunsets at Makiling, the Manila Symphony Orchestra performed John Williams’ Medley (Starwars, Superman, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, ET)Dvorak’s New World Symphony, Moricone: Gabriel’s Oboe from “The Mission”, “One Summer’s Day (from Spirited Away)”,”Minamahal Kita”, ”Ati Cu Pung Singsing,” “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas,” Cavatina (from Deer Hunter); Queen/Gershwin’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” in Blue, Super Mario and Pokemon Medley, Themes from FrozenGame of Thrones, Avengers, Mission Impossible, and Angry Bird.

An open theater located on the slopes of Mt. Makiling in Los Baños, Laguna, the Tanghalang Maria Makiling is a National Arts Center structure that can accommodate up to a thousand audience complete with state of the art lights and sound system suitable for low, medium and large scale productions and performances.
