Toy collectors, die-hard fans, and comic book creators united in one of the biggest and longest pop culture convention in Asia, the ToyCon Poplife FanXperience 2018, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City from June 8 to 10.

Dante Basco, Kelly Hu, and Michael Copon along with the Event Marketing Head of TOYCON PH Cholo Mallillin at the ribbon cutting ceremony of TOYCON 2018 POPLIFE FanXperience.

ToyCon Philippines began from a simple meet-up of friends who had the same passion of collecting toys to becoming the longest running pop culture convention showcasing different international collectibles up to date.

Now on its 17th year, ToyCon PH brought in new and exciting guest stars to grace the highly-anticipated stage.

Headlining the guest stars for this year’s ToyCon were Neal Adams, Kelly Hu, Kevin Grievoux, Dante Basco and Michael Copon who shared their experiences playing and doing the characters that made the fiction world thrive.

Aside from these wonderful guests, various performers like former Sistar member and leader Hyolyn, Japanese idol group KissBee, The Voice Philippines second runner-up Janice Javier, and Apl.de.Ap entertained the ToyCon crowd in the main stage.

Cholo Mallillin, Event Marketing Head of ToyCon PH shared in the press conference that the convention also brought in limited edition models made by Filipino toy collectors to draw in an international audience to the country.

Neal Adams also commended Filipino artists and described the Philippines as the home for the best comic book artists in the world as several Filipino personalities have been featured in popular comic books like in the Marvel and DC universe.

With the aim to shed light to some of the talented Filipino artists to the pop culture scene, ToyCon also strove for fans to rediscover the reason people enter fandoms in the first place, create connections with people who likes the same comics, TV shows, or passion of collecting toys, and widening their reach for international fans and artists alike.

ToyCon PH 2018 was not just another pop culture event. It has become a whole new playground for fandoms to connect, engage, and, well—fawn over their favorite fictional characters.
