JoWaPao’s beautiful show

Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Paolo Ballesteros are making our late mornings even more beautiful with a talk show that offers nothing but vibes. The three comedians, collectively known as JoWaPao to their millions of fans, are headlining a TV show called The Lolas’ Beautiful Show.

In an interview with Manila Standard, Jose Manalo revealed that they were just informed a few weeks before they actually did the first taping for the talk show that he and his pals were chosen to host the program that would replace the millennial themed-series, Trops.

But the TV host-comedian said they didn’t think twice, because a new show means they have another venue to make their viewers laugh especially those who follow their characters in Eat Bulaga’s “Kalyeserye” – Lola Nidora, Lola Tinidora, and Lola Tidora.

Just like in “Kalyeserye” the three Lolas serve as human representations of clean fun and age-old values that never run out of style. The Lolas were human representations of clean fun and age-old values that never run out of style among Filipinos.  They can talk to the older set and remind them lessons on life as well as engage the millennials in a lesson or two about adulting.  Suffice to say that “relatability” among viewers is indeed the Lolas’ primary asset, making them the most sought-after trio that can “speak” to the hearts and minds of most Filipinos—as simple as turning sadness into positive vibes.

Asked if The Lolas’ Beautiful Show is just an extension of “Kalyeserye,” Manalo said that the new program is featuring the same characters but with an entirely different format.

“It’s so happens that we’re playing the same characters but there’s something serious about the talk show. Well, there’s the usual antics of the Lolas but we are featuring serious subjects only made entertaining because we’re in character,” Manalo said in vernacular.

True enough, from a decent rating, the show now rules its timeslot proving that TV viewers are getting hooked to the late morning show each day.

“I think we have to take into consideration that a lot of people missed the Lolas. That’s why when we heard about us hosting the show, we didn’t think twice even if it was just a very short notice,” Paolo Ballesteros shared.

The three comedians feel that it wouldn’t be hard for them to continue hosting the show even if they have other showbiz commitments. The trio is preparing for an album and currently filming a superhero hero movie that also features their well-loved characters.

“We are already comfortable working together. Sometimes we can no longer distinguish if we are still playing our characters or if we are already JoWaPao. I think that’s the advantage of you loving what you do. Even if your schedule is packed, you wouldn’t mind it because you’re working with people who are just as crazy as you,” Bayola shared.

With all the successes the trio has been experiencing since they played Lola Nidora, Lola Tinidora, and Lola Tidora, many fans started calling them the new TVJ (Tito, Vic and Joey). But the trio just humbly dismissed the comparison.

“TVJ is TVJ. Marami pa kaming kelangan patunayan bago kame pwedeng ikumpara sa kanila. Alamat na ang TVJ at kame, nagsisimula pa lang,” Manalo explained.

But given a chance, the trio wants to have the TVJ in their show. They think that’s going to be a riot. They’ve got a lot of questions to TVJ that people would be interest to hear.

The Lolas’ Beautiful Show airs weekdays at 11:30 a.m. just before Eat Bulaga.
