American Idol season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez is back on Philippine shores to stage a concert at The Theatre at Solaire on Nov. 10.
Titled Jessica Sanchez with Special Guest Martin Nievera, the show promises to showcase the 23-year-old’s edgier look and a sound that is her own.
“My repertoire is going to be a mixture of ballad, R&B and danceable songs. I also included some Tagalog songs in the line-up. The audience will surely enjoy the concert,” she said during an interview via livestream.
With Martin Nievera as guest, Jessica is excited to work with the Concert King.
“I’m simply thrilled to collaborate with him on stage. I love Martin. He’s funny, kind-hearted and like a brother to me.”
During the interview, Jessica said that she has so much respect for the Filipino talent.
“I love performing with Filipino artists. Filipinos can really sing,” she exclaimed.
Many are curious if she plans to stay in the Philippines for good to establish a full singing career.
“At this point, there’s no certainty yet. I try to visit the country at least once a year. I’m half Filipino so I’m always wanting to learn and experience more of the culture.”
Up to this day, the charming lass is grateful for the great experience she got from American Idol.
“I feel blessed. I am able to live my life doing what I love. I was given a platform on ‘Idol’ when I was 16 and have accomplished things I’ve dreamed of,” Jessica stated.

When Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino made a guest appearance in Gandang Gabi Vice, the former revealed that one reason for her break-up with Carlo before was Maja Salvador. Despite her explanation that Maja shouldn’t be blamed for it and that they’re presently okay with each other, the latter still drew flaks from bashers.
Asked if she got affected by said bashing, Maja says:
“Honestly, I don’t let myself get affected by it. For me, bashers don’t exist in this world. Yes, of course, we are living in a free country and everyone can openly say a piece of his or her mind. What’s important is you know yourself.”
The Kapamilya actress supports Angelica’s statement that everything’s fine between them.
“There’s no bad blood between the two of us. We didn’t have a problem because of the said issue. In fact, before the airing of their GGV guesting, she already informed me about it. She texted me, explained everything and I understood.”
Meanwhile, in her currently showing potboiler titled To Love Some Buddy, she is paired for the first time with Zanjoe Marudo.
“And I hope it’s not the last. I only have good words for Z. For one, we’re alike when it comes to work attitude. Our passion for the acting craft is the same. Z’s PR (public relations) is also great! Even if he’s already tired, you will never hear him complain. This makes the workload lighter.”
Interestingly, she discovered something in Zanjoe while they were shooting the movie.
“He has a pair of nice feet! We have lots of scenes wherein he doesn’t wear shoes. Actually, Z always strikes me as someone who smells good. When we did the movie, I realized that he doesn’t only smell good but is very clean physically. For me, that’s one thing I appreciate foremost in a guy. If he is clean on the physical aspect, it only reflects that he is capable of taking care of other people as well,” Maja avers.
According to feedback, her chemistry with Zanjoe sparkles in To Love Some Buddy.
“Well, thank you. I myself was surprised after seeing the movie in full. It’s nice that we got paired. It’s also a plus point that our material is relatable. I really hope that we’ll have a good run at the tills.”
Considering that both of them are single at the moment, some quarters are curious if there’s a chance for them to get developed with each other.
“I treat Z as a friend because we’re both from the same industry. Over the years, we get to work in some projects. But after doing this particular film, I can say that he is now my true friend. I got to know him better.”
“As to getting developed, let’s see. Not because he is Zanjoe Marudo and we were together in one project, I should be in love with him. What’s important is we both enjoy whatever friendship we have at the moment. It’s something which is not forcing through,” ends Maja.
