TV host and comedian Vice Ganda welcomed his fans, members of the press and online influencers to the opening of Vice Cosmetics flagship store on the ground floor of Market! Market! in Taguig City.
The jam-packed opening saw throngs of fans lining up just have a glimpse of Vice Ganda and to try out new products unveiled during the event. Some of them were already at the venue a few hours before the store opening just to show their support for their idol.
Upon seeing his fans lined up at the store entrance, the comedian and TV host said in jest, “I don’t have any business here, gusto lang nila makita ang mukha ko, gusto lang nilang matawa pag makikita ako. Ewan ko ba, feeling ko kasi ang mga tao akala nila, cartoon character ako, kapag nakikita nila ang mukha ko natatawa sila, natutuwa sila. Yung presence ko, comedy.”
It was only last year when Vice’s makeup line was launched and became available in kiosks at all Watsons branches. And due growing demand, Vice is planning to distribute the product internationally.
“I wanted Pinoys to experience using the product first, after that I plan to introduce the Vice Cosmetics as an international brand. Actually, we’re already working on it,” Vice shared.
During the opening of the flagship store on Nov. 15, Vice was excited to unveil new products under his makeup line, “We have new line for the cheek – blush, contour and highligthers. Maganda ang feedback, ‘yung mga online influencers, tina-try nila, kasi light lang kaya nagustuhan.”
Vice Cosmetics is endorsed by millennial ambassadors Maymay Entrata and Kisses Delavin who were chosen by Vice Ganda himself.
“We were looking for young people – millennials – who will represent Vice Cosmetics apart from myself. I thought of Maymay and Kisses because they are the faces of the youth of today. Si Maymay, nanggaling sa payak na pamilya. Si Kisses naman ‘yung isa nakakaluwag-luwag. Yung isa, batang morena at isang maputi. Kaya silang dalawa talaga ‘yung perfect na mag-endorse ng Vice Cosmetics, sila ‘yung target namin,” Vice explained.
Meanwhile, fans and members of the showbiz press observed that Vice looked “blooming and inspired” when he graced the store opening. They asked the TV host if it was basketball player Calvin Abueva, who gives him the noticeable glow.
“Calvin is the only guy who is proud to be friends with me,” Vice told reporters, “I am very happy right now, kaming dalawa masaya ako na kasama siya, masaya kami at natutuwa ako na may mga taong sumasaya especially for me. ‘Yung support online may mga nababasa ako.”
Vice said he appreciates Calvin and their newfound friendship. Not only that the basketball player now holds a special place is his heart, he’s also proud that the latter was very open and didn’t mind being associated with him
“To be honest, I’m always a proud friend. It’s just that sometimes, they are not comfortable being seen in public with me. And I totally respect that. If you don’t want that, then it’s fine with me,” he explained.
