Filipina beauties, Binibining Pilipinas Globe Michele Gumabao and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International Eva Patalinjug, are gearing up to claim the thrones and put the country’s name again on the map of international beauty pageants.
Before representing the country, the beauty queens were the women of the hour for the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. organized an exclusive send-off party on Sept. 19 at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center.
“Hope we’ll bring pride,” Gumabao said as she is eager to make the country proud of her. She will head to Tirana in Albania for the Miss Globe final on Oct. 21.
Despite being a volleyball superstar, young entrepreneur, and social media influencer, she has managed to have an intensive training for the pageant. “Setting your priorities is the key,” she said.
Having two passions is the challenge for her because she had to make critical decisions by sacrificing a couple of volleyball games.
Discipline is helping the athlete turned beauty queen to be competitive as a team player, she also shared her father’s advice on valuing preparation and balancing everything that she does.
“Your number one competitor is yourself,” said Gumabao.
Michele’s mom and brother, Marco Gumabao, wished him good luck and told her that even not winning yet they were already proud of her.
Meanwhile, nurse and aspiring lawyer Eva will do her best to bag the country’s first ever Miss Grand International crown next month in Myanmar, in which the coronation night is set for Oct. 5.
She expressed her happiness knowing the pageant’s advocacy is in line also with hers, which is protecting the children and women against domestic violence.
Recently, she has been named as Philippine peace ambassadress by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.
“I’m very happy because God put me in this position already,” Eva said.
“I will do my best because I know that I’m bringing the hopes and dreams of Filipinos with me,” she declared with confidence.
Aside from winning, Eva’s other goal is to gain more friends as she said that “being competitive and friendly is innate in every Filipina.”
Also, Miss Universe Philippines Catriona Gray, Binibining Pilipinas International Ma. Ahtisa Manalo, Binibining Pilipinas Supranational Jehza Huelar, and Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Karen Gallman wished the two good luck in their attempt to claim the crowns.
“I know you’ll make the Philippines proud,” Gray said.
