50 beauties vie for Mutya ng Pilipinas golden edition crown

The 50th Golden Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018 pageant kicked off with the grand press presentation of the 50 official candidates held at Ascott Hotel Makati on Monday afternoon.  The Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc. has promised to present “the best ever edition of Asia’s longest-running beauty pageant,” and the second oldest national beauty pageant in the country.

The 50 title contenders were selected from extensive nationwide searches, including Filipino international communities worldwide.

Mary Justine Teng of Muntinlupa City was voted as Darling of the Press while Agatha Romero of Manila City and Nina Ancheta of Los Angeles, Southern California, were 2nd and 3rd, respectively.  Expect these three gorgeous girls to grab any of the four major titles at stake during the finals night.

The Talent Competition will be staged in Pansol, Calamba, Laguna—Sol Y Viento Mountain Hot Springs and Resort to promote “Beauty Tourism.” Swimsuit and Long Gown Competition is set on Sept. 10 while the Terno Competition is on Sept. 11 in Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila. 

The winners of the 50th Mutya ng Pilipinas will be the country’s representative in Miss Asia Pacific International 2018 to be held in Manila on Oct. 4; Miss Tourism International 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Dec. 23; Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2018 in China later this year; and Miss Global Beauty Queen 2018 in Seoul, Korea in May 2019.

“We want a pageant that promotes the Filipino women, provides a platform for them to be empowered, identified and given credence, because we believe that through the Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant, Filipino women can shine bright on the world stage by showcasing our beauty, heritage, history and our future,” MPI Chairman Fred Yuson and MPI president Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo both declared.

The Grand Coronation Night of Mutya Gold will be held at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m. with delayed telecast on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.
